Light Diaries and Sketches

Project description:
Series of video light programs, fiber-optics, circuit board design (3-D light objects)
Artworks presented are three-dimensional “drawings” with fiber cable and emitting light. Compositions include arrays of black mirror acrylit panels, and titanium steel panel arranged in three dimensional compositions. Panels also serve structural role as support for fiber-optics design and holding light elements and circuit boards.

Light Diaries and Sketches is an installation of light sculptures and objects that combines a poetic and delicate aesthetic with a scientific formal exploration of optical and perceptual phenomena. The complementary colors virtually negate each other, threatening to dissolve the image which oscillates between dissolution and emergence – between light and sculpture.
It is a seemingly simple, subtle work that pivots around diametrical opposites: presence and disappearance, positive and negative, sculpture and light waves, movement and stillness.

The concept of the artwork is closely related to the previous experiments of the artist in drawing with digital palette. In former works like ”The Vertigo” or the “Moving Drawings” artists made lines and strokes appear and disappear in time drawing them in real time on a “digital film”  - timeline of video compositions. In the “Light sketches” the work appears in disappears in front of you, creating various combinations of lines and shapes. It is drawing with light through different mediums, in these artworks exploring the physicality of light as 3-mimensional shape. Light animation is based on the video source and transmitted through fiber-optics by means of programmed LED light. In infinite color combinations artwork moves in front of you.

The compositions were drawn from artist images created while filming his projects, in outlines of the light compositions one can recognize the familiar frames from previous video works.
The project is ongoing with many works to come, they are included together in settings with film compositions by the artist and compliment the visual environment of video installation with key-images from displayed video.

The artworks in the series are combined with video installation projections related to the same title. Projects completed include light and film compositions ‘Deconstructed”, Visor’d” and Nebulaes”
